Our company name "1stpageseo" is a contraction derived from the idea that search engine results are displayed according to rankings called SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).

The SEO (Search Engine Optimization) struggle is about getting into the top SERPs on search engines like google for specified keywords and keyword phrasing.

Our goal is to provide individuals and business owners with a website that not only is visually appealing, but also "ranks well". That is, your prospective customers' search results will display your website on the search engine's 1st page. After all, what good is the best design if your website is lost among a million other sites, some of which are your competition?

WEBSITE DESIGN

We offer complete website design, development, site hosting and maintenance services for businesses and other organizations of all sizes. We approach each project individually, with an emphasis on producing a website design that's readable, usable and focused on clearly presenting your business, services or products to your prospective customers.

Developing an Internet presence begins with the preparation phase and proceeds through the phases of design, marketing and maintenance. Each step must be thoroughly investigated, studied and implemented for optimum results.

Surveys show that a typical user takes about five seconds to determine whether your website meets his or her needs. That's not much time to make that important first impression.

We think that every website should meet six basic goals:

1. make a clear and easily understood presentation of the information

2. have a ease of use by website visitors

3. demonstrate consistent navigation

4. display strong company branding

5. have a visually appealing graphic design

6. be search engine friendly

Steps To Effective Website Design And Internet Marketing Of Your Business:

1. select, then register a URL (commonly known as the domain name; e.g., www.yourwebsitename.com), we own a number of potentially useful real estate oriented doname names, shown here

2. identify what your customer wants, then gather all the content to be displayed on your website including logo, photos, text, etc.

3. with our assistance, decide on your color scheme and layout

4. allow us to design the website to your specifications

5. find a hosting service of your choosing; or better still, allow us to host your site on one of our Virtual Private Servers

6. point your newly registered domain name to the server (DNS maintenance included in our hosting service)

7. upload your website to the web host's server (FTP maintenance including in our hosting service)

8. allow us to install analytics to provide visitor and keyword metrics (available from us for a small additional fee)

8. allow us to submit your website to search engines and directories (available from us for a small additional fee)

9. promote on printed materials and word of mouth. For over thirty years, we have developed a stellar reputation for being an industry leader in the design and production of printed material (references on request).

GOOGLE MAPS

Google Maps is a Google service offering powerful, user-friendly mapping technology and local business information-including business locations, contact information and driving directions. Google Maps works so well for real estate sites that it must have been developed with just this application in mind.

Since Google Maps is relatively new, applications are just now being integrated into real estate websites. Shown below are just two of our designs. We are also capable of doing IDX / MLS and database driven mapping using MySQL, PHP, and Javscript.

CUSTOM ARTICLES, BLOG DESIGN AND POSTS, RSS INTEGRATION

A company has a substantially better chance of increasing traffic to its site by focusing its marketing efforts towards a specific niche or geographical area.

Doing so will establish a presence for the website while eliminating the need to compete based on standard industry content -- dry, boring, boiler-plate pictures and text that will not differentiate a company selling tapestries or tools, or a company with a customer base in Tampa from one in Tulsa.

Articles and blogging are quick, easy and effective techniques to begin achieving results by sticking to this fundamental concept of Internet SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

We excel in writing original and "citation" articles for incorporation into new and existing web sites. You may instruct us on the subject matter and length of the article. As an option, we will send you the article as a PDF file, a text document or formatted in MS Word.

Most often, the customer will instruct us to post the article directly to their website or blog, run an updated Google (and Yahoo) Sitemap, and ping the spiders alerting the search engines that a new website page is ready for indexing.

The idea behind a blog is that we (and you) can create optimized content that your potential clients would find useful, driving them to your site. For example, as a real estate firm you might have listings for sale in Tampa. A good posting for a blog might be "What to Look For When House Shopping in Tampa FL". The discussion could contain what a buyer should look for when shopping for a home in Tampa, the necessity of homeowner’s insurance in Tampa, overpriced areas of Tampa, etc...

The advantage of posting to a blog is that the search engines can be "trained" and "reminded" to index the blog on a consistent basis. We have found that by using the proper techniques, a blog article will be search-engine indexed within a day, sometimes the article appears in the search engine index within less than twenty-four hours.

Beyond search engine marketing with blogs, the goal is to keep the content fresh and interesting to read. Remember, people may come across your (blog) article via a search engine and consequently decide to visit your site and use your services.

One aspect of blogging that has made blogs more usable and popular is RSS. RSS enables us to announce information as soon as it happens.

How does this help a real estate agent?

Let’s say a customer is hunting for a house in a specific area within a range of prices. The prospect may not have the time to check your site every few hours for updated listings. If the prospect has a “my Yahoo page”, my MSN, or any RSS reader installed, then the buyer would know the instant that a listing became available -- if you post it to your blog.

With RSS, you won't have to worry about spam filters blocking your emails. It's beneficial for both clients and agents.

The second benefit is that you can request that we integrate the RSS feed into your home page. A snapshot of each blog posting is shown as standard HTML code on your homepage. As a result, the search engine spiders (typically Google, MSN and Yahoo) "see" fresh content each day and visit your site with increased frequency. But, don't be fooled by other firms that integrate RSS within a "javascript" window, or present the feed as a rolling display. Only pure HTML integration will be seen by the search engine spiders.

The point is to stand out from your competition. Implementing a blog and utilizing RSS are two technologies that make your site and your firm unique.

Whether buying, selling or renting, people need a place to turn to for information. If you provide it, you will have plenty of traffic and clients to match.

Since January 2006, we have had for sale, the necessary PHP script for including an RSS feed into your website. As an example, scroll down to the bottom of this page. The displayed text is from the NY Times Technology site and is updated by that newspaper staff many times a day. When Google spiders this page it will always see fresh content and will "learn" to visit this site everyday.

Also, since 2005, along with our normal blogging services, we have implemented daily posting to customers' blogs. This service uses the latest industry articles from across the Internet, centric to customers' needs, and costs only $5 per day. Each post is guaranteed to be unique, each post 'pings' the blogsite directories, each posts notifies Technorati and Google of its presence.

SITEMAPS

What is the Sitemaps program?

Google, Microsoft Live Search, Yahoo and Ask.com all support "autodiscovery" of sitemaps. This open-format schema allows webmasters to specify the location of their sitemaps within the robots.txt file. This alleviates the need to submit sitemaps to each search engine separately. Sitemaps are the best method allowing webmasters to inform search engines about the pages that are on their sites and which pages are available for crawling. The new "autodiscovery" support will be beneficial for both webmasters and those conducting search queries. Web pages must still adhere to the quality criteria for index inclusion, and utilizing autodiscovery does not affect a site’s ranking.

To summarize :
It is our opinion (shared by most in the SEO community) that "Sitemaps" is a must for any website. After all, why would Google go to all the trouble -- programming, enhancing and maintaining the facility if it wasn't important to them?

For more on the sitemaps autodiscovery protocol, click here .

Unfortunately, many CMS and templated sites "sit" on servers, commingled with other customer sites. That is, each site is a subdirectory or small portion of a huge server 'farm' and as a result Sitemaps sometimes cannot or will not be implemented for those individual sites. Owners of those sites should demand that Sitesmaps be installed and run on a regular basis.

Please, do not allow your website vendor to dissuade you from using a Sitemap on your site.

Merely mention this success story

and weigh your vendor's response.

GOOGLE BASE INTEGRATION

Google Base has been live for some time. On the same day that Google Base began accepting ads we started uploading listings for our real estate customers.

Click here to see examples of 'real estate' listings. Take some time to digest the information. Do you see what most are doing wrong? If you don't, contact us and we will tell you what we do to properly position you and your displayed inventory.

Google, craigslist, backpage and others are revolutionizing the real estate listing schema. MLS will discontinue to exist as we now know it.

Think not?

To see what Google Base can do for you click here then click here. Do you see how you can provide your clientele with both a 'mapped' view and also your properties 'pushed' to them via an RSS feed? Do you understand the significance? If not, contact us now.

Uploads of your inventory can be done in an automated fashion, or one-at-a-time using web services such as postlets .

Contact us now and we'll let you know how to take advantage of this ground-shaking technology!

MOVING TO A NEW WEB HOST

Several people have asked for the recommended way to move to a new webhost or IP address without having problems in Google. I tested this method this past Sunday and everything worked fine for me. I’ll walk you through my example, which is moving mattcutts.com from one IP address to another IP address by changing hosts. This is not an example of moving mattcutts.com to someotherdomain.com. I’ll talk about that a bit at the end.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION

The top three search engines are currently Google, MSN, and Yahoo. Once each engine finds a site then that engine will crawl through each page, indexing and ranking the content. This process will continue over the life of the site.

The results are indexed according to rankings called SERPs. "SERP" is an abbreviation for "Search Engine Results Page". The SEO (Search Engine Optimization) struggle is about getting into the top SERPs on various search engines for specified keywords and key phrases.

Most recently, SEO has become SEM (Search Engine Marketing). It's not enough to merely optimize the site for spidered content. The integrated approach now encompasses three aspects: paid advertising (AdWords) and (Google) analytics, site and content optimization and qualitative off-the-page factors (in-bound linking).

It is a common belief that Google ranks sites according to over 100 quality points. When a page is indexed the information is extracted from the site and is processed through a complex set of algorithms. The algorithms determine a site's value. Many of these ranking factors are proprietary, hidden from public knowledge. From experience we tend to know which quality factors the SE's hold in priority and weigh more heavily.

Of most importance to the search engines is site authority. Expert consensus is that the search engines rank a site's importance, in part, by the number of inbound quality (authority) links.

More discussion on the above can be found on this page How I Achieved a Ten-fold Increase in Traffic to My Sites with Quality Backlinks.

Also of importance to the search engines are content depth and uniqueness. That is, most highly ranked sites have many pages of useful information. The more useful information provided, the better the chance of being ranked higher.
